Welcome to the sweet life
Cake Gypsy was born in 2009 and our original intention was to offer cake decorating classes to the community. Once our customers realized how delicious our cakes were, we began to get requests to purchase already decorated cakes and the evolution of Cake Gypsy began. Our original store opened up in Canton and it wasn’t long before we began getting recognition from local outlets such as Better Connecticut and Best of Hartford. Deanna Damen, founder and owner, even competed (and won) in a cake decorating competition with the one and only Buddy Valastro. With all the positive press and the increasing loyalty of our community, we quickly began to outgrow the space in our original location. Our second location opened in Old Avon Village in March of 2014 and it was around this time that we moved away from custom cakes to start focusing on our booming cupcake business.
Taking the hint from our customers and the rising cupcake trend, we began expanding our ever-growing list of cupcake flavors, and also began adding other dessert options. Today we offer over 50 different flavors of cupcakes in both locations every day and we’re always looking to keep things interesting. It’s also important community that to us that our incredible edibles are available to as many people as possible even if they have diet restrictions so we offer vegan and gluten free options every day as well. We take the utmost pride and care in building our customer relationships and striving to offer unique exciting products to make your celebrations and events the best they can be.
